Day One Of State Golf Tees Off

NIXA, Mo--The biggest legends in the golf world will be at Top of the Rock for the Champions Tour event, the first week of June.

But the best high school golfers in the state of Missouri are swinging for state championships.

The first of the two day competition teed off on three courses around the Ozarks.

This is Class 3 competition at Fremont Hills country club in Nixa.

Class 1 is at Springfield's Rivercut, Class 2 at Bolivar's Silo Ridge, Class 4 is in Cape Girardeau.

At Fremont Hills, Rogersville's Alec Palen shot a 69 for the lowest score in day one, the Wildcats are in third place as a team.

Here's a look at where area teams are after day one, Thayer fourth in Class 1, Catholic 6th in Class 2, Rogersville third, West Plains fourth in Class 3, and Glendale is fourth in Class 4.
