SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The St. Louis Cardinals know all about Missouri State baseball.

Their Double AA franchise shares a stadium with the Bears, and Mike Matheny's son plays for Missouri State.

In our Bear Nation report, another Bear has become a Cardinal Thursday.

The St. Louis Cardinals reached contract terms with right handed pitcher Cody Schumacher.

Schumacher becomes the 129th Bear to sign a professional contract.

He's following in the footsteps of Nick Petree.

Like the former Bear, Schumacher will report to the Cardinals short season single a team in State College Pennsylvania.

The senior led the Bears with a 6-2 record with a 2.45 earned run average.

Schumacher won this years Dave Dickensheet award at Missouri State as the team's most outstanding pitcher.
