SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Speaking of baseball, the Missouri State Bears have new assistant coach and hitting instructor.

In our Bear Nation report, Missouri State named Nate Thompson to Keith Guttin's staff Thursday.

Thompson will replace Brent Thomas who retired after 32 years on Guttin's staff at Missouri State.

Thompson played his college ball at Dallas Baptist which is a new baseball member of the Missouri Valley conference.

He also was an volunteer assistant at Nebraska and most recently was an assistant at Hutchinson junior college.

Guttin will start his 33rd year at the Missouri State helm in 2015.
