SOCHI, Russia--Springfield native Emily Scott will take her last crack at winning an Olympic gold medal today.
After finishing fifth in the short track 1500 meters, Scott will race in her specialty, the 1,000 meter.
The quarterfinals start in a few hours in Sochi.

American figure skater and one time Springfield resident Gracie Gold finished fourth Thursday in the Olympic ladies figure skating competition.
Gold was in fourth place after the short program and could not climb any higher in the free skate or long program.
Gold fell during the program but that may have not made that much of a difference.
The top three skaters were just too strong.
Russian Adelina Sotnikova won the gold while South Korea's Yuna Kim finished second.
This was Gracie Gold's first Olympic competition, she was introduced to skating in Springfield at Mediacom ice park.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Missouri State Lady Bears will tip off the last two home games of the season tomorrow night against Indiana State. The team is still trying to rebound from losing leading scorer Kenzie Williams to a season ending knee injury.

"At the same time, we are telling our players that they are still talented they have to go out there and play. I know their hearts go out to Kenzie but I like the mindset that they have that they just have to go out and play regardless," said Lady Bears basketball coach Kellie Harper.
