The St. Louis Cards are basically playing with a new deck.
For the second day in a row, the Cardinals made some noise before the trade deadline.

Getting John Lackey from Boston for Allen Craig and Joe Kelly yesterday.
Lackey is 11 and 7 on the year with a 3.60 era.

Lots of new faces on the Cards.
So here is a list of the starting pitchers.
It's Adam Wainwright, Shelby Miller, Lance Lynn, Justin Masterson and the latest, John Lackey.

With all these trades going on, the Cardinals had to get to work for an afternoon game Thursday against the Padres.
And certainly a bitter sweet feeling going into the game.

Especially for Shelby Miller who got the start.
Joe Kelly was the best man at his wedding.

But the Cards able to rally and avoid the sweep.
Oscar Tavares hit a two run bomb to help lead the Cardinals to a 6-2 win over the Padres.

In a week, the Kansas City Chiefs will be on the field warming up for their preseason opener against the Bengals.

In our KC Blitz report, we take you back to St. Joseph for Chiefs training camp.
The big news out of practice Thursday, Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry left practice early due to an ankle injury.
Also leaving early was cornerback Marcus Cooper with a hamstring injury.

Players getting banged up nothing out of the norm in training camp.

But while the secondary slimmed, the intensity grew on the front line.

"The will to be able to lose a lot of fights and keep doing it," says linebacker Tamba Hali. "A lot of guys get discouraged while rushing because they can't win on this rush. You have to be very strong minded and constantly plugging away."
