SPRINGFIELD, Mo--There's a big difference between Jupiter Florida and Springfield Missouri.

And a bunch of Double AA baseball players are starting to understand that difference especially when it pretains to the weather.

Johnny Rodriguez had his Springfield Cardinals indoors at Hammons Field Tuesday morning.

It was the team's first workout in Springfield after breaking spring training camp in Florida over the weekend.

Wednesday, the team will board a charter bus and head south toward Midland, Texas.

Springfield opens the season against the RockHounds Thursday night.

"I think the Texas League is a tough league.  There are only eight teams so you play the same people over and over.  So people get scouting reports on you.  So you have to kind of evolve your game throughout the season.  Because you play the same teams over and over.  It's a tough league," said Springfield catcher Andrew Knizner.

"It is a new place but the approach won't change.  I'm just going to go after hitters.  I'm going to throw hard at them and challenge them hard inside.  They better be ready because I'm going to bring it to them," said Springfield pitcher Conner Greene.

In Major League Baseball Tuesday night,  Christian Yellich and Ryan Braun hit back to back homers with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the Brewers beat the Cardinals 5-4.

Kansas City won its first game of the season yesterday in Detroit.
The Royals' Jakob Junis pitched into the eighth inning giving up zero runs and getting the 1-0 win.

OMAHA, Neb.--Paul Lusk goes from being a Bear to a Bluejay.

The Creighton Bluejays announced Tuesday afternoon that the former Missouri State basketball coach will be an assistant for Greg McDermott.

Missouri State fired Lusk after seven seasons in early March and replaced him with Dana Ford.

Lusk goes to Creighton and replaces Darian DeVries who was named the new head coach at Drake last week.

Lusk won 106 games in his seven seasons as the head coach for the Bears.

In a news release, Lusk said "coach McDermott's one of the best coaches in the country.  And I can't wait to join his staff and be a part of the Creighton Bluejay family."

Before Missouri State, Lusk was an assistant coach at Purdue.

Greg McDermott's Bluejays compete in the Big East and were 21-12 last year.

Creighton's been in the NCAA tournament five of the last seven seasons.
