Monett Claims First Softball State Title

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Over at Killian Stadium Saturday afternoon Monett taking on Notre Dame-Cape Girardeau in the class three title game.

Second inning action Cubs up 1-0 when Conner Overfield slaps on to third. Play at the plate and Caroline Lochmann slides in safely. That ties the game at 1-1.

But Monett would answer Maddison Coones hits a deep fly to right. Wind was howling and the ball gets down. Two runs score. To make it 4-1.

Then with one out to go Kaesha George catches the pop up to win it 4-1. As Monett wins their first softball state title.

"Everybody has to have a hand in it and we did. Even thinking about the little things, our dugout has done a great job for us, keeping us up. Going into it we knew we'd be pretty good, but again nobody really expected a state championship and that just shows you what type of girls I get to coach. I'm fully blessed," said coach Ty Goetz.
