SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Fresh off a third place finish at state, Kickapoo's Jared Ridder has been named Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year and is a finalist for the national award.
He is just the second Chief given the honor in it's 32 year existence.
Ridder averaged 24.2 points going into the final four weekend in Columbia. He then added 24 points in the semifinals and 19 points in the third place game.
The Gatorade Player of the Year also is awarded for academic excellence. Ridder has a 3.57 GPA.
The senior will play basketball at Xavier next year.
