NIXA, Mo--The Nixa Eagles will get nationwide attention when the high school football season kicks off this August.

The Eagles announced Friday that their season opener at Jefferson City Helias will be televised nationwide on ESPNU.

The battle between the Eagles and Crusaders will be Sunday August 24th with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.

Nixa was 9-2 last year and lost to Webb City when the Cardinals held on a fourth and goal play.

Helias was 12-3 and lost to those same Webb City Cardinals in the Class 4 state championship game.

Nixa features senior running back Alec Murphy who's being recruited by a number of division one schools.

Rich Rehagen/Nixa Coach:"I think it's kind of a once in a lifetime deal.  I know our kids will be excited.  I think everybody will be excited about it.  I don't know much about them, just know they've been successful the last few years.  They've been in the state title game two years in a row in Class Four.  We only return a few, that's part of the deal.  We don't have as much experience but our kids have been working hard.."
