Friday Morning Sports Report - June 16, 2017

Five Springfield Cardinals earned all-star nods for their play in the first half of the season.

But the team has been free-falling, and Thursday night the baby birds hope to avoid a franchise record-tying tenth straight loss.

Oscar Mercado was the only one of five all-stars in action last night.
Quick start for the Cards - Adolis Garcia yanks a double to the corner in left.  Jacob Wilson scores - it's 1-0, Springfield.

It's the third straight strong outing for Sandy Alcantara, one of his 4 k's, then a little help from his friends.  Casey Grayson starts the 6-4-3 double play - that makes it  6 shutout innings for Alcantara.

in the bottom of the 4th, Adolis Garcia steps up once more - launching his 6th homer to left.  The losing streak is over! Cards finally win, 6-3.

In the bigs last night:

The St. Louis Cardinals lost in the 9th inning to the Brewers.  The Kansas City Royals got out to an early lead late night against the Angels in So-Cal.  KC wins - 7-2.
