Defense Leads Maroon To Spring Game Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Dave Steckel wrapped up Missouri State's spring camp with the annual Maroon and White game Thursday night at Plaster Stadium.

The Bears offense was White, the defense was Maroon.

Stec and his crew coached the first half and he had members of the media, including yours truly do the second.

Second quarter J.T. Granato steps back and throws the ball over the top to Mauricio Chio then chio with the juke move and the White gains about 30 yards

Later, Peyton Huslig looks down the field and throws the ball deep, finding Tyler Currie the juinor with the one handed catch in the endzone it's a touchdown.

Close to the end of the second quarter Huslig looking deep again but this time he throws it to the Maroon as Titus Wall grabs the pick and runs for a big gain.
The defense got points for takeaways and third down stops, the offense for touchdowns and first downs.

Second half, Alec McChesney from the MSU Standard and myself called the offense.

The old man having to look over his glasses to see the plays.

One of my many difficulties.

Chad Plein from KY-3 and the News-Leader's Wyatt Wheeler were calling the defense.
The big play in the second half was an Angelo Garbutt 30-yard pick six, and the Maroon won, the defense 37-26.
