WICHITA, Ks--Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall celebrated his 51st birthday Thursday.

But one present he'd love to get Saturday is that perfect Valley season.

That hasn't been done since Larry Bird's 1979 Indiana State Sycamores.

The Shockers can go to 18-0 in the Valley with a victory over Missouri State.

Bird's Sycamores were 16-0 at the end of the regular season.

Wichita State went to the Final Four last season and the Shockers say this year's team has more offensive power.

And the Shockers are enjoying the ride.

"When you sit down and think about what you're going through.  I think this will hit me  when I'm 40 years old watching college basketball myself as a spectator.  It's something to be proud of, but I think the highlight of our season is what's ahead," said Wichita State guard Ron Baker.
