With his three touchdowns, Josey moved his career rushing total to fourth all-time at Mizzou. For his effort, Josey was named the Cotton Bowl offensive MVP. Will he add to that total next year or will he declare for the NFL draft?
After a sluggish three quarters that saw Mizzou score 17 points and gain just 188 yards, the offense started to click in the fourth quarter as they played with a sense of urgency.
Gary Pinkel stuck with his senior quarterback James Franklin who struggled all night completing just 10 of 30 passes for 93 yards and an interception. A pick six was called back on a pass interference call that would have given OSU the lead after they just tied the game at 24. With new life, Franklin drove the Tigers down for a 46 yard field goal from Andrew Baggett, his second of the night.
The Cowboys briefly held the lead on a two yard score from Desmond Roland with 5:04 to play, before Josey’s third score and subsequent fumble recovery TD sealed the win.
The Tigers finish the season with a 12-2 record, matching their program best on 2007, that ended with a Cotton Bowl championship.
With the victory, Pinkel passed Don Faurot with his 102nd Mizzou win.
