COLUMBIA, Mo--On his fourth attempt, Kim Anderson finally got the basketball job he always wanted, head coach of the Mizzou Tigers.

Mike Alden introduced the 58-year old Tuesday, he gets a five year contract worth a little more than a million dollars a year.

KOLR 10's Megan Rice was in Columbia and has the story.

"I'm here outside the historic columns at the University of Missouri where it was an historic day as the mens basketball team named its 18th coach in school history Kim Anderson."

"This is a dream come true for me and my family," said Anderson.  "There's no place on earth that I'd rather be than Columbia, Missouri.  Thanks for bringing me home."

This Monday, news broke on who would replace Frank Haith as head coach.

"Who had the ability to mentor young men on and off the court?  Who had the capability to represent the core values of our University?  How about a person that's Missouri made, Kim Anderson," said Mizzou Athletics Director Mike Alden.

Anderson comes to Mizzou after 12 years at Central Missouri having won a D2 national title this season.

Anderson:"Winning a national championship was key.  And I'm so grateful to those young men that I was able to coach.  But I think this is just the right time.  I told the young men last night, it's time to win rings and earn diplomas and make a big impact on those around us."

"I think that it's everything I want in coach Anderson.  Everything I was looking for, I'm so excited," said Mizzou Tiger Keanau Post.

Not only did Anderson graduate from Mizzou twice, but he played and coach for the great Norm Stewart.

Anderson:"It may be 2014, but smart, disciplined, hard-nosed team basketball never goes out of style."

One thing is certain, Mizzou basketball bridged the gap between the new era and the golden days of Norm Stewart.
