Missouri State's Murphy Shuts Out Billikens

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Hammons Field will be a busy place in the next few weeks.

Before Springfield can take the field on Thursday, the Missouri State Bears will play on the diamond.

In our Bear nation report, Missouri State squared off with Saint Louis University Tuesday night.  

Keith Guttin's Bears looking for their fourth win in the last five games played.

And Clay Murphy was on the hill for the Bears and throwing b-b's, here he gets Michael Bozarth looking at strike three.

Then the senior ends the inning by striking out Braxton Martinez looking at strike three.

Murphy had 11 strikeouts on the night.

Missouri State would get on the board in the bottom half, first, Aaron Meyer doubles to right center, that would get the inning rolling.

Then, St. Louis' Robert Plohr hits Tate Matheny, the Billikens would end up loading the bases for Eric Cheray.

And Cheray singles up the middle, that scores both Meyer and Matheny both score it's 2-nothing.

Pinch hitter Matt Dezort smacked a grand slam in the sixth and Missouri State wins 8-nothing.
