SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Missouri State Bears were back in action at Hammons Field Wednesday night against Kansas.

And Keith Guttin's troops hoping that a little home cooking can get them well.

In our Bear Nation report, Missouri State has lost six of its last eight games.

Missouri State beat Kansas two weeks ago in Lawrence and the Bears have won the last two times they've played at Hammons Field.

The Bears led 1-nothing in the fourth when Dakota Smith singles to right Justin Protacio scores it's 1-1.

Top of the fifth and the Bears flashing the leather, Matt Hall on the hill, gets Tucker Tharp leaning the wrong way, and over to second for the out.

Then Arron Hernandez lines out to Aaron Meyer at second for one, over to first for the double play.

Bottom of the fifth, and Missouri State takes the lead, Tate Matheny takes this deep to left, over the fence and over the bullpen, a two run shot, 3-1 Bears.

Kansas would rally in the sixth, Colby Wright singles to left, that scores a run it's 3-2.

Then Smith hits into this fielder's choice, that makes it 3-3.

But Missouri State wins 5-3 to sweep the Jayhawks.
