SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Missouri State baseball team hosted thier First Pitch Night to kick off the 2014 season. Special guest St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny was in the house to help the event get going.

Former and current Bears players were in attendance to hand out out schedule cards, sign autographs and honor the Wounded Warrior Project.

The event took place at the Bill Rowe Training Center at Hammons Field this Saturday afternoon.

Mike Matheny headlined the event. His son Tate Matheny is an outfielder for the Bears and was named MVC's Freshman of the Year in 2013.

The Bears start thier season Friday February, 14th at UCA in Arkansas.

"Watching my kids, especially, as my son is here at missouri state, I think he will be the first one to tell you that I am the last guy to give him a call and talk baseball. He knows what he is doing and he's done a real good job of it for a long time. So i stay out of the way," said St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny.
