Illinois State Holds Off Bears Rally

NORMAL, Ill--The Missouri State Bears and Illinois State Redbirds tipped off Tuesday night's game in Normal, Illnois tied for third place in the Valley at 7-7.

And the Bears were trying to do something they haven't done since 2011, that is win at Redbird Arena.

In fact the Bears have lost four of the last five games played at Illinois State.

Missouri State battling,  fifth year senior Keith Pickens working hard on the Valley logo gets the hoop and the foul, it's 16-12 Illinois State.

The Redbirds built a big first half lead, Reggie Lynch with the slam dunk, it's 19-12.

Illinois State forced 14 Bear first half turnovers, including this, and the break to Daishon Knight for the hoop, the Redbirds were up by as many as 13 in the first half.

It was 32-26 Redbirds at the half.

Second half, Missouri State roars back, inside to Tyler McCullough for the hoop, it's a one point game.

Then Jarmar Gulley gives it up and then gets it back, for the hoop, two of his game high 24 points, it's 51-50 Illinois State.

Missouri State's Austin Ruder drills this deep three, and the Bears were on top 55-53.

But the Redbirds immediately answer with Nick Zeisloft's three pointer.

Illinois State made its free throws late and beats the Bears 67-63.
