KANSAS CITY, Mo--The Kansas City Chiefs have drastically renovated their roster in the last couple of days.
Coming on board, receiver Donnie Avery, tight end Anthony Fasano, defensive end Mike DeVito, quarterback Chase Daniel.
And of course quarterback Alex Smith.
The Chiefs officially completed the trade with San Francisco to bring Smith into Chiefs kingdom.
Alex Smith played eight seasons for the Niners and was having one of his best seasons when a concussion knocked him out of the picture.
San Franicsco went with Colin Kapernick, Smith says he wanted out so he could start.
"I wasn't going to get released," said Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. "The options were kind of laid out. And for me without a doubt, the Chiefs were the team that I wanted to be with before they were even an option. I thought maybe there was potential there. And it turned out there was."
