Cards Open Homestand With Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals opened up a short four game homestand Wednesday night at Hammons Field.

Springfield taking on the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

The Double AA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

And Royals outfielder Nori Aoki is with the Naturals on a rehab assignment because of a strained groin.

Springfield's Jonathan Cornelius strikes him out swinging to open the game.

Then in the third, more bad luck for Aoki, check out Alex Mejia dives to his right, and then throws out the big leaguer.

Springfield takes the lead in the third, Rafael Ortega rips this rocket to right, over the boards and gone a two run shot it's 2-nothing Cardinals.

Later in the third, Cody Stanley goes deep to right center, over the boards and off the Chevy Silverado, a solo shot it's 3-nothing.

Northwest Arkansas gets one back in the fifth, Ethan Chapman rifles this past first and into the right field corner, Juan Graterol scores on the triple it's 3-one.

And Springfield goes onto win 4-1.
