Cardinals Win Home Opener

ST LOUIS, Mo--The St. Louis Cardinals happy to be at Busch Stadium for the first time this season. The Cards hosting the Cincinnati Reds in their home opener Monday. 

The weather delayed the opening day festivities but the hall of famers and previous Cardinals were honored before the game.

Top of the first Wacha gave up a lead off double but gets out of trouble when he strikes out Jay Bruce to end the inning.

To the bottom of the first. Bases loaded for Yadier Molina, that's never good for the opposing team. Yadi to the wall. Matt Carpenter comes home. The relay throw to the plate not in time. Molina with a bases clearing double to make it 3-0 Cards.

In the top of the fifth. Roger Bernadina doubled to deep right, Brayan Pena scores after the Reds hit back to back doubles. It's 3-1 cards.

Bottom of the 7th Cardinals picking up some insurance. As Allen Craig singles to right. Matt Holliday comes home for the run. Cardinals go on to win it 5-3.

St. Louis and the Cincinnati Reds play game two Tuesday night at 7:15. Where righty Lance Lynn will be on the mound for the Cards.
