ST. LOUIS, Mo--The NHL playoffs are set. And starting Thursday night a new chapter of the Blues and Blackhawks rivalry will be written.

The Blues going into the playoffs backwards. St. Louis dropped their last 6 games of the season.

When it was not long ago the Blues were thinking they could win the Presidents Trophy.

But instead it's a second seed for the Blues and a first round match with the defending champs in the Blackhawks.

The Blues won the regular season series 3-2. Chicago, however, won the latest meeting in April by a score of 4-2.

"We are going to need to dislodge any of the negative momentum from what happened here the last 10 days. We're going to need to get our players back up and running that obviously didn't play the last 10 days. I don't think either team really love playing each other, which should make for a hell of series," said Blues coach Ken Hitchcock.

"It's going to be fun. We have had a lot of good battles with these guys. We know each other really well. It is going to be a fun series," said Blues Left Wing Alexander Steen.
