Bears Fail In Clutch Situations

FT. WORTH, Tex--It's a familiar feeling for Missouri State, falling in super-regionals for the second time in three seasons.

They made a couple mistakes on the mound, but what will haunt this team is its failure to produce with men on base.

Time after time, the Bears had chances to knock runs in, but TCU shut the door again and again.

"That's gonna be the final out."

In two games, Missouri State was 1 for 16 with runners in scoring position. The only hit was a squeeze bunt. A clutch hit here or there may have changed this series.

It's a disappointing ending, but this Bears team goes down as one of the program's all-time best.

"After the Arkansas Super-Regional, coach told us we're gonna get back here. And we accomplished that goal," said Bears Third baseman Jake Burger.

"I can't even put into words what kind of relationship we have together. It's been a hell of a ride," said Bears First baseman Justin Paulsen.

"Amongst the best in terms of accomplishments and character and fight. Certainly one of my favorites," said Bears coach Keith Guttin.
