Arkansas Fires Coach Bret Bielema After Loss To Mizzou

FAYETTEVILLE, Ar--After five seasons Arkansas has decided to part ways with head football coach Bret Bielema. Coach Bielema was told of the decision following Friday's 48-45 loss to Mizzou.

Like much of this season things looked good for the Razorbacks in the start of the battle line rivalry game. Arkansas took a 21-7 lead off a David Williams rushing touchdown.

But Mizzou's Tucker McCann would ultimately chip in the game winning field goal.

Bielema finished this season with a 4-8 record and went 1-7 in the conference. He finished with a 29-34 record with the Hogs.

"So I was informed coming off the field that I will no longer be the coach at Arkansas. This point forward the biggest thing I take from my experience here is I wanted to leave the place better than when I got here and that has happened. Obviously everyone is probably like, 'oooh they got him right after that?' But, I'd much rather have it this way, I got to say goodbye to 80 or so players in that locker room. A lot of emotion running through there. I think that is a great indication of the imprint that you've had on their lives," said Bret Bielema.
