REEDS SPRING, Mo. -- The excitement of a film crew in a small town granted local businesses a break from their every day routine this week.
For Terry Mayville, the owner of the Mountain Country Motor Inn, the difficult task of monitoring and assisting a full-scale movie production in his hotel came with a thrill.
"I thought I'd seen everything so far in my lifetime," he said. "But boy was I shocked here."
Apparently, Mayville's hotel has the look of a noir thriller in a scenic and remote location that caught the attention of Patrick Mulvihill and Doug Fox, who are working together on a movie called Room 105.
"When you look at this motel it's got a lot of character," he said. "And it is a little older. It's kind of set off by itself and it's more old school"
The filming adds a small boost to the local economy, too. Mulville's cast and crew often visits local shops, grocery stores and restaurants like Leona's cafe. The diner is a neighbor to the inn. It's owner, Leona Baughman, serves 6-8 people from the film crew on a daily basis.
"It's exciting," she said. "Because you wonder why they're filming a movie right next door in this small town."
