Yes, Missouri State's President Put on Those 'Kinky Boots'

Missouri State University president Clif Smart literally wore kinky boots for a social media promotion that appeared Wednesday.

A touring version of Broadway show "Kinky Boots" is scheduled for a run at Juanita K. Hammons Hall from March 20 to 22.

The News-Leader reached out to Juanita K. Hammons Hall to learn whether there had been an uptick in ticket reservations for "Kinky Boots," the story of a struggling shoe factory called upon to provide "sturdy new stilettos" for a flamboyant performer, Lola.

Smart has a track record of playing dress-up to promote cultural performances at Missouri State University venues.

When a 2016 KISS concert was announced, Smart and JQH Arena director Keith Boaz had KISS-style makeovers.

In the fall of that year, Missouri State University announced that a touring version of Broadway's "Phantom of the Opera" would play Juanita K. Hammons Hall, and Smart dressed up as the title character.
