WRIGHT COUNTY, Mo. – The Wright County Sheriff is in the hospital after a two-car accident on Hwy. 5, just three miles north of Hartville, around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sheriff Glenn Adler was responding to a domestic call when the accident happened.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office says Adler was following two people in a truck to the location of the domestic disturbance.  The driver of the truck slammed on the breaks unexpectedly and Adler rear-ended the truck.

A helicopter was called to airlift Adler to Cox South in Springfield, but was later called off.

Adler was transported to Cox South in Springfield with moderate injuries.

As of Wednesday afternoon, he was still listed in the emergency room waiting on x-ray results.

The two others involved in the accident, 48-year-old Thomas Atchison of Mountain Grove, Mo. and 36-year-old Kimberly Raney of Springfield, sustained minor cuts from glass.  The two were transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
