JOPLIN, Mo. -- Roughly three dozen volunteers from Missouri Southern State University have been working on a mural at the corner of B Street and Main in Joplin.

Work started a year ago, leaving to questions about when it would be done. The mural coordinator says a number of factors have played a role in the development schedule.

"It's just been a matter of squeezing in time around weather, around student schedules, around my schedule, around temperature, around rain," said Burt Bucher, Mural Coordinator.

The mural celebrates the history of downtown Joplin, highlighting everything from George Spiva and Third Thursdays to the trolley system and the Joplin Eagle Train.
