After the witness reported the woman removing the animals from a carrier inside her vehicle and placing them onto the roadway, an investigation was launched by the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
The charges the woman faces are a class C misdemeanor and her arraignment is scheduled on May 13, 2014.
Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott cites quick action from citizens in solving this animal abandonment case, which had the potential to go unsolved.
“Thanks to the quick actions of the witness, all of the puppies were safely recovered and adopted into good homes,” says Arnott in a news statement. “We investigate all reports of Animal Neglect and Abuse however animal dumping cases usually go unsolved because there are no witnesses. In this case, all credit goes to the diligent citizens who took action and came forward with the evidence needed.”
Because the woman was charged with a misdemeanor, KOLR10 News has decided to withhold her name from broadcast and online stories.
