The winter weather advisory was issued for snow, sleet and freezing rain. A wintry mix will impact much of the Missouri Ozarks Friday and Friday night, generally east of I-49 (from Nevada to Cassville.)
Rain will begin to move into the Ozarks early Friday morning. Depending on the local temperature you will either see rain or freezing rain. The best chance for freezing rain this morning will be areas around Springfield and east. Once that warm air moves through everyone will see rain for the rest of Friday. Then the cold air will push back. This will change the rain back to a snow/sleet mixture from north to south during Friday evening. Friday night we will see the most snow/sleet around the Ozarks. Flurries will be possible on Saturday.
Accumulations of sleet/snow could be anywhere from a dusting to a few inches. It looks like areas that could see the most will be Lake of the Ozarks to Rolla to Houston. They could see between 2-4". Areas around Springfield, north of 60 and west of 65 could see a dusting to an inch. The majority of the sleet/snow will fall Friday evening into early Saturday morning.
The winter weather will result in hazardous travel conditions Friday and Friday night, especially on bridges, overpasses and untreated roads.
