West Plains Under Precautionary Boil Order

WEST PLAIN, Mo. -- City officials in West Plains says the chlorine of the water leaving the city water treatment plant is below the allowable limit.

The situation has prompted a precautionary boil order for drinking and cooking water. The order may be lifted by Wednesday.

People wanting to boil their water should do so for three to five minutes, and use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, or other consumption reasons. People can disinfect dishes by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water.
