33-year-old Stephanie Brown is a mother of two young boys, a Pulaski County resident and a recovering heroin addict. She lost her freedom, custody of her children and years of her life to heroin. Now she is two years into her sobriety and working to become an addiction counselor.
Brown lights up most when she talks about spending time with her sons. She is taking an active role in the heroin action committee set up by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.
Brown says her story is about "as bad as it gets" and if she can survive this drug others can too. She wants to help her community members do that. This extended interview shows more of her story, her struggles and triumphs and how she plans to put them into action for the community.
