According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm will impact the area with accumulating snow and a wintry mix late Monday night through Tuesday evening.
A winter storm will likely develop over the central portion of the country late Monday night through Tuesday night.
Snow is expected to develop across the region late Monday night and move Northeastward across the Missouri Ozarks and Midwest on Tuesday.
A swath of accumulating snow is likely across most of the outlook area. Locations north of the I-44 corridor will see the highest snow accumulations where 3 to 5 inches appear possible. Lesser accumulations will occur south of the I-44 corridor.
Far southern and south central Missouri will likely see a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and light snow. There will be minor ice accumulations mainly across south central Missouri.
Bitterly cold temperatures will follow this winter storm and impact the region the remainder of the week.
Another storm system may bring accumulating winter precipitation to the region next Friday and Saturday.
