At approximately 4:41 am April 27 Osage Beach Communications received a report of a single vehicle traffic accident near the end of the east bound side of the Grand Glaize Bridge.
Upon arrival Osage Beach Officers found that a vehicle had collided and flipped over a guard rail. The vehicle then traveled down a hill and rolled landing into the water.
Officers discovered the occupant, a 23-year-old white male and Springfield resident, lying unresponsive along the bank of Lake of the Ozarks at the 1 mile marker of the Grand Glaize arm across from the Formula One Boats of Missouri Marina.
The vehicle was mostly submerged with the exception of the rear of the vehicle. Osage Beach Ambulance and Osage Beach Fire Protection responded to the scene.
While one officer attended to the victim, another jumped into the water to search the vehicle for addition occupants.
No one else was discovered in the vehicle.
Additional officers arrived to assist existing medical personnel.
The victim was loaded onto a fireboat and transported to Formula One Boats where he was then placed into the ambulance.
The victim was taken to Lake Regional Hospital where he was immediately flown to the University of Missouri.
The driver’s status is unknown at this time.
Diving and towing companies arrived on the scene to rove the vehicle from the water.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division and Crash Reconstruction Officers were called out shortly after the crash to secure the scene from the water and to assist in an attempt to determine what happened before and after the vehicle struck the guardrail.
Additional information about the crash and the victim will be released as soon as it is made available.
