SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A group of volunteers came together Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Victory Mission’s Warehouse on 700 W. Chase to pack nearly 700 Thanksgiving food baskets to give to needy families and homebound seniors.

Each basket is filled with items to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal like a frozen turkey, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, eggs, desert and more, which comes at a cost of just $40.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, about 200 volunteers will deliver the baskets bright and early at 7:30 a.m.

Among the volunteers are a group of FedEx employees who will use their trucks to deliver 270 baskets.

"Many families in the Ozarks worry how they'll put food on the table, especially during the holidays,” says Victory Mission Executive Director Jim Harriger in a news release. “Thanks to the community's generous support, we have the opportunity to help them enjoy a fulfilling Thanksgiving meal without added stress."
