SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Earlier Monday, President Barack Obama made a special report on the situation involving Malaysian Airline flight 17.

There is growing international outrage over how Russian-backed separatists are treating the remains and crash site of a Malaysia Airlines jet shot down over eastern Ukraine.

And Obama wants Russian president Vladimir Putin to stop the rebels from impeding with the investigation.

This has sparked debate on if the U.S. and Russia are now in a cold war with each other.

A veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm, and military expert, Colonel Stephen Robinette visited KOLR10 News to talk with us about this topic.
