Uber Coming to Branson

BRANSON, MO. -- Branson becomes the latest Missouri city to roll out the transportation service Uber.

The Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce made the announcement Friday morning, just minutes before the mobile service was officially available in the city.

"This not only brings more transportation options to visitors, who have come to expect great transportation options as they travel around the country, but more importantly to our residents," says chamber president Jeff Seifried.

"Transportation for our workforce in Branson has always been an issue," he says. " So adding another option, and a flexible option, for residents to use will be fantastic."

Uber allows citizens to utilize "everyday" drivers for their transportation needs through the mobile app. Money exchanges hands via the mobile platform and drivers receive a rating for their services.

Uber is now available in more than 500 cities across the world, according to the Apple App Store.

Branson follows in the footsteps of Springfield, which rolled out the service in 2016.
