West Plains, Mo. -- At least five people were injured during a two vehicle accident Friday evening, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Highway 17 at the EE Junction.

Trooper Young with the Missouri State Highway Patrol told Ozark Radio News on the scene that a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 17 was hit by another vehicle which failed to yield at the stop sign at the end of Highway EE.

The vehicle that was hit came to rest approximately 150 feet away opposite of the junction turnoff in the ditch against some trees, whereas the vehicle which failed to yield came to rest in the ditch on the county road across from EE.

Sources shared that there were two adults and three children in the vehicle hit and that all five were taken by ambulance to a medical facility. The driver of the other vehicle refused treatment on the scene.

Troopers say more information would become available once the official report was released.
