Today, May 8, 2014, marks the 130th birthday of President Harry Truman, a Missouri native.

Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri in 1884.  He was America's 33rd president, sworn in after President Roosevelt's sudden death in April, 1945.

In honor of his birthday, Missouri observes a state holiday every May 8.  That means all state administrative offices are closed today, as are many county courthouses.

If you have business at a county office, call ahead to see if they are open.
