The impending winter weather did not keep local anglers from attending the first day of the trout season.
Mar. 1 marks the opening of trout fishing season in Missouri’s three state trout parks and amidst recent winter weather activity it is the first sign that Spring is within sight.
Fishing season for rainbow trout officially begins every year at 6:30 am Mar. 1 at Bennett Spring State Park, Roaring River State Park and Montauk State Park.
Gov. Jay Nixon was out at Bennett Spring State Park for the opening day of the 2014 trout season this morning.
Trout season runs until the season’s end on Oct. 31.
