William Earl Harrison, 49, of Rolla, is charged with armed criminal action and first-degree murder for the death of Jerry Wayne King, who was found near the entrance to Gourd Creek Cave near County Rd. 7270 on July 8, 1992, according to Phelps County Sheriff Richard Lisenbe.
He entered his plea at arraignment on Tuesday and is to go on trial Sept. 4 in Phelps County Circuit Court.
Harrison, who was 28 in 1992, was arrested at the time in connection to the death, but was eventually released after numerous court proceedings.
Last year, the Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney asked Lisenbe to look at the case. After numerous interviews and other examinations, the case was presented to a Phelps County Grand Jury who returned an indictment.
Harrison is currently being held in the Phelps County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
