GREENE COUNTY, Mo. – Three firefighters were taken to a local hospital Thursday after a fire truck they were on overturned on Rt. WW, nine miles north of Springfield.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 4:50 p.m. when an Ebenezer Fire Department fire truck went off the roadway and overturned.

A crash report says the driver, Jeffrey S. Larson, 42, of Ozark, and two occupants, Amanda R. Davis, 22, of Rogersville, and Chad C. Shell, 39, of Willard, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries.

The fire truck is listed as sustaining extensive damage.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Heath Dalton, the fire truck was on it's way back from a fatal motor home crash in Polk County and was not running the sirens.

Dalton says, as of Friday afternoon, the firefighters are doing well and recovering.  He says one firefighter had minor surgery Friday morning to remove and "clean up matter" from his arm.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
