According to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to 1200 Everest Rd. around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.
When deputies arrived on scene, they spoke to a juvenile female who was staying at the residence.
The juvenile said she was alone in her bedroom when she woke up to the sound of someone outside. She said she heard someone yell and then heard glass breaking.
After the glass broke, the juvenile called her brother to come over and she called 911. She said she could hear people moving around inside her house before her brother arrived.
When the juvenile’s brother arrived, he went to the rear of the residence where he saw the door had been forced open and two men running away.
According to deputies, gunshots were fired between the brother and the suspects, who fled into the woods.
A blue Concorde, parked in front of the residence, was detained by the brother until deputies arrived.
A female in the vehicle told deputies she was there with two men who had come to speak to the individual who lived in the residence.
The female was arrested by deputies and taken to the Stone County Jail.
Later, two men were apprehended walking in the area.
Detectives have been actively working the case and have made several contacts throughout the day. The investigation is continuing.
The Sheriff’s Department has detained the three individuals and has submitted probable cause statements to the prosecutor for charges.
Charges are expected to be issued late Monday or early Tuesday.
The names of the suspects involved in the incident will not be published until formal charges have been filed by the prosecutor, as per KOLR10 policy.
