SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- If you've been downtown within the last few years, you might have noticed this.
A pretty big portrait of hollywood's most lovable man: Tom Hanks.
We caught up with the artist on the July 7 First Friday Artwalk and have the story behind the mural.
"The idea was to make something on this wall because it was empty for a long time. It's time we saw something more colorful. This is what I do here. I like to help make Springfield beautiful. I also like to make paintings for donations, too. I was helping to pay for my child with cancer - my next goal is to raise money for other kids with cancer. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite movie actors -- I love his castaway movie," the artist said.
"It looks like Tom Hanks. It looks like Tom Hanks, but I could be wrong," one passerby said.
