Suspicious Fire Destroys Trailers at W. Springfield Business

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- An early morning fire destroys two double-wide trailers overnight at a business on W. Sunshine in Springfield.

Springfield Fire Battalion Chief Steven Stinnett tells KOLR10 the fire broke out just after 2:00 a.m. Friday at Missouri Equipment Leasing, 3225 W. Sunshine.

Company officials say the two damaged units were in the back of the lot, well off the street, and that no electrical power was hooked up.  The trailers were used for classrooms and offices, the company spokesman told KOLR10 News.

Battlefield and Republic Fire Departments responded to assist with tankers for water supply.
Stinnett says no one was injured in the fire.

An investigation to what caused the fire is underway.  The company says the trailers were valued at $20,000 each.

(**story corrected from an earlier version that said the mobile homes were owned by Clayton Homes, whose property is adjacent to Missouri Equipment Leasing.)
