SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Police are sorting out what happened when a motorcycle was stolen and a witness fired shots at the suspects.

Police spokeswoman Lisa Cox says a man saw his roommate’s motorcycle being loaded into a truck on south Kansas Expressway.

The witness then grabbed a gun, and fired at the truck’s back window, striking the vehicle but not the person inside.

Police say the truck was later located on Harrison Street, and it was confirmed to be stolen.

Officers then tracked a suspect to west State Street, that person left in a vehicle, which was later found wrecked.

The vehicle’s occupant was sent to the hospital for evaluation and was then transported to jail.

Officers were able to confirm the man was connected to the stolen motorcycle.
