Stars Come Out for Bentonville Film Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--The third annual Bentonville Film Festival kicked off this week in Arkansas.
And several celebrities have made their way into the Ozarks.

Sponsors, screenwriters, and film stars walked the white carpet to kick off the event.

The event is co-founded by actress Geena Davis, and it's all to promote women and diversity in media.

Actor William H. Macy said, "These film festivals are the lifeblood of the independent film industry which is near and dear to my heart."

Co-founder and actress Geena Davis said,  "We're very focused and single-minded. We really want to show how commercial films are that have a lot of women, a lot of diversity or diverse storytellers."

"The mission is so pertinent now today and so important and so I think that's very helpful," said co-founder Trevor Drinkwater.

Miss America Savvy Shields said,  "In being Miss America, one of the things that we always talk about is empowering women and girls supporting girls."

Macy added, "It's amazing how many serious film buffs there are in this country. People that know so much more about film than I do."

Film screenings last all week as well as the sponsor village with free family fun.

On Sunday, Davis is hosting a special softball game to commemorate the 25th anniversary of her movie "a league of their own."
