MEDFIELD, Mass. -- A man from Springfield, Missouri is sentenced in Rhode Island, for transporting an underage girl for sex.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Rhode Island says Stephen Ardrey, 30, of Springfield, was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison on sex trafficking charges.

He was accused of taking a 17 year old girl from Medfield, Massachusetts near Boston, over the state line into Rhode Island for the purpose of illegal sexual activity.

Ardrey was arrested September, 2013 walking along a highway in Rhode Island with the girl.  It was three days after the teen had been reported missing.

He pleaded guilty in February to one count of trafficking a person under the age of 18 and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

A U.S. District judge in Rhode Island ordered Ardrey to register as a sex offender after his prison sentence is served.
