The numbers are a comparison of crime statistics of April through June 2013.
According to a statement from the police department, a significant fact in the report is that crimes against people declined by 10 percent, which is the first quarter to show a decline in violent crimes.
Also on the decline is property time. The report says property crime decreased by 18 percent, citing officers working with convenience stores to end people leaving without paying for gas.
Burglaries and stolen vehicles also decreased this quarter and clearances of stolen vehicle cases nearly doubled with 14 to 27 percent. The police department cites the addition of the Vehicle Theft Unit for these numbers.
