Solar Farm Groundbreaking Today in Nixa

NIXA, Mo. -- The City of Nixa and City Utilities are set to break ground Tuesday on the largest solar farm in southwest Missouri.

Nixa is purchasing 100 percent of the power generated.

The 72-acre facility will include more than 33,000 solar panels, providing roughly nine percent of Nixa's annual energy consumption.

The project will reduce the city's carbon footprint, and will save the city approximately $2.5 million over the life of a 25 year contract.

The groundbreaking takes place on West Mount Vernon Street in Nixa at 10:00 a.m.
